The two rockets that hit the suburbs of Beirut on Sunday are only a warning to Hezbollah, a commander of the Free Syrian Army group said.
Speaking to the Lebanese satellite TV channel LBC, Ammar al-Wawi warned of the consequences of Hezbollah’s intervention in the Syrian civil war. He urged the Lebanese government to stop Hezbollah from intervening in Syrian affairs and hinted to possible attacks against Beirut and the Beirut airport.
However another The Free Syrian Army official denied any involvement in the rocket attacks.
“We have nothing to do with the attacks and we issued an official statement denying any involvement in such an act,” FSA spokesman Louay Meqdad told The Daily Star.
“The one to blame for such attacks is the one who drives his country into this situation, the big Satan Nasrallah,” said Meqdad, referring to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.
“Two rockets hit a Shi’ite Muslim district of southern Beirut early Sunday and wounded several people, residents said, a day after the leader of Lebanese Shi’ite militant movement Hezbollah said his group would continue fighting in Syria until victory.
“We will continue to the end of the road. We accept this responsibility and will accept all sacrifices and expected consequences of this position,” he said in a televised speech on Saturday evening. “We will be the ones who bring victory”.
