One Welshman can count his lucky stars (of David) after two Israel Defense Forces Search and Rescue Unit members came to his aid after he fell from a cliff, the BBC reports.
The incident took place this past Sunday at Bwlch y Moch in Tremadog, in north west Wales. The 67-year-old man had fallen 32 feet on a route known as “one step in the clouds.”
A spokesman for the Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team said he had “luckily” been caught by his gear or he would have otherwise met a more serious fate. “The casualty had broken both his tibia and fibula, and these injuries were splinted prior to the casualty being immobilized and placed into a vacuum mattress,” the spokesman said.
According to the BBC, the rescue involved 14 team members and the Wales Air Ambulance as well as the Israelis who were visiting the area on a climbing trip.
An Aberglaslyn team member said the Israelis were in the area and had offered to help.
