One of the world’s highest paid TV stars, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara gets into trouble with her Jewish business manager whenever she purchases a super expensive Hermes Birkin handbag, she recently revealed in an interview with Harpers Baazar.
“My business manager is very traditional, Jewish guy. Every time I buy one of those, he calls me and says, ‘Sofia, it’s Craig. Did you buy this, or is it a fraud?,'” she said.
Explaining how she typically responds to ‘Craig,’ Vergara insisted that she sees her purchasing of expensive handbags as somewhat of an investment. “I’m like, ‘Craig, listen … what would you prefer? Me popping champagne bottles and doing drugs and wasting money or buying bags? These are valuable. These, Manolo can sell!'” she said referring to her 21 year old son Manolo.
The highly exclusive handmade leather Birkin handbags are named after actress Jane Birkin and can fetch up to $150,ooo. Earning $19 million a year according to Harpers, 41 year old Vergara can easily afford more than the five Birkins she says she currently owns.
“I tell Manolo, ‘If I don’t have enough money for your college this month, you have to sell the Birkins,'” she said, a proposition that ‘Craig’ would surely approve of.
