Missing NYC Alzheimer’s Patient, Armand Koskas, Has Been Found

After being reported lost in Manhattan for over 48 hours, Armand Koskas, 74, a retired chemical engineer suffering from Alzheimer’s has now been found, to the great relief of his family and friends at the Manhattan Sepharadic Congregation who feared for his life.
Yonatan Koskas, his son, said Koskas was found, and is safe, but dehydrated after wandering for two days.
From what the family could piece together, Koskas left his apartment on 77th Street, in Manhattan, before an attendant came to check on him at 10 AM on Wednesday. He was seen at 94th Street later that morning, and then once more at 100th Street, but, after that, his whereabouts were unknown.
On Friday morning he was discovered, six miles away, at 26th Street downtown, in the basement of Bellevue Hospital, actually asleep in a janitor’s closet.
Yonatan Koskas said his family is thankful their father has been returned, and no less on the eve of Yom Kippur, but are still trying to piece together the missing hours of his sojourn.
Rabbi Raphael Benchimol, of the Manhattan Sepharadic Congregation, where the Koskas family are members and who alerted the police, Shomrim and the greater community to the father’s disappearance, said Koskas “is healthy and happy to be reunited with his family.”
