Palestinian Terrorist Lured Israeli Victim With Tale of ‘Buried Treasure’

JNS.org – The Palestinian terrorists who killed Israel Defense Forces Sgt. Tomer Hazan last week had tried for months to lure several of his Bat Yam restaurant co-workers to his village on the outskirts of Qalqilya in Samaria, by telling them that there was buried treasure underneath his building and that he needed help in digging it out, Israel Hayom reported.
Moti Elmashali, 42, from Afula, managed the Tzahi Besarim restaurant in Bat Yam where Hazan and his murderer, Nidal Amar, worked for five years. Elmashali told Israel Hayom that Amar tried to lure him to his house in Beit Amin, by claiming that there was a hidden treasure under his house containing a large amount of money.
“About three months ago, Nidal told me about a hidden treasure with a lot of money that was apparently concealed in an old structure under his house,” Elmashali said. “He said the sheikh of his village forbid his family from destroying part of their house to reach the treasure, and he invited me to come to his house with a rabbi who could apparently break the curse and allow them to destroy the house and get the treasure. If this happened, Nidal promised me, we would both be very rich.”
“I rejected the offer, and after I found out that he is the one who killed Tomer, I was in shock. I realized that both I and the rabbi I would have brought with me may have fallen victim to a terrible murder. In all the months I knew Nidal, he never mentioned his brother, who is in an Israeli jail,” Elmashali added.
