Congressman Jerrold Nadler responded directly to reports that American aid given to the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been given to families of terrorists.
The Congressman sharply criticized the action and requested an immediate inquiry from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In his letter to her he “notes with concern” that the PA is using US aid dollars to fund terrorism, when it has publically “committed itself to negotiations and to refrain from acts of terrorism.” It is instead “Paying perpetrators of terrorism, and, in so doing, actively supporting violence, is a direct violation by the PA of its agreements and of international law.
According to the British newspaper, the Daily Mail, the PA has authorized payments of £5 million ($8.2 million) to the families of ‘martyrs’ – people who have been killed fighting Israel, including suicide bombers… Such payments by the PA would be beyond shocking and outrageous….Paying perpetrators of terrorism, and in so doing actively supporting violence, is a direct violation by the PA of its agreements and of international law.”
The district represented by Congressman Jerrold Nadler includes the Upper West West Side, the “Ground Zero” site and parts of Brooklyn.
