Masked gunmen from Hamas’s Gaza-based Al Qassam Brigades resurfaced in Jenin, in the West Bank, on Sunday, Palestine Today reported on Monday.
The reason for their visit was to mourn Rafie al Saadi, an Islamic Jihad terrorist killed by the Israel Defense Forces, in December, in a Jenin house owned by a member of Hamas. The memorial service, featuring masked gunmen firing into the air, also included representatives from Islamic Jihad’s Al Quds Brigades and the Al Aqsa Brigades, part of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party.
According to Palestine Today, the event was the first public appearance of armed Hamas terrorists in the West Bank in years and the first public appearance of all three major terrorist groups in the West Bank since 2007.
Islamic Jihad’s representative said that “the blood of the martyr al-Saadi will remain fuel for resistance, and the Jenin refugee camp will remain a thorn in the throat of the occupation.” Hamas’ official at the ceremony said “resistance is the only way to liberate Palestine and avenge the martyrs.”
All three terror groups chanted slogans calling for “unity of the Palestinian factions in the face of the Zionist entity.”
