His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Hashemite King of Jordan, met with Jewish groups in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, according to a Twitter post from his royal court. An official at a Jewish organization confirmed the meeting to The Algemeiner.
The tweet included an info-graphic, bearing the headline “Why They Are Important,” explaining his meetings with “The Influencers,” including leaders of Arab and Muslim American Organizations and, now, leaders of Jewish American Organizations.
Under the latter, the poster said: “Jewish American organizations are a strong lobbying power in the U.S., and influence U.S. policies in the Middle East. Jewish American organizations are also influential in Israel, and can play an important role in encouraging the Israeli government to take steps towards peace.”
Under the former, the poster said: “Arab and Muslim American organizations educate and inform the U.S. general public about Arab and Muslim culture and their causes. They play an important role in advocating and supporting Arab and Muslim U.S. citizens on various issues and lobby within U.S. decision-making circles on their behalf. They help educate and organize U.S. Arab and Muslim voters during elections for President, members of Congress and many other political offices.”
