Mother of Adele Biton Faces Daughter’s Attackers in IDF Military Court

Edva Biton, the mother of a little girl who was critically wounded during a terrorist attack near the West Bank city of Ariel last year, testified Thursday against the men who nearly killed her daughter, Israel’s Channel 10 reported.
In March 2013, Biton was driving along the Trans-Samaria Highway when she and her daughter Adele were attacked by Arabs hurling rocks. Biton lost control of the car and smashed into the back of a truck. Adele was seriously injured during the assault.
Ten days after the crime was committed, Israel’s Shin Bet security service and the Israel Defense Forces arrested five Palestinian Arab suspects. The alleged assailants immediately confessed and even reenacted the ghastly events for investigators.
Edva Biton’s appearance in the IDF’s Megiddo Military Court on Thursday was her first face-to-face encounter with the assailants, Channel 10 said.
On Wednesday, Biton vowed that she would not utter a word to “those monsters” during the court proceedings, according to Yeshiva World News.
During hours of heart wrenching testimony, Biton revealed that she speaks to her daughter, who has been unconscious for over eight months, every day. Biton said on the stand: “Do you know how much I talk with Adele? I’m inside her ear every day, telling her how sad I am, how much I miss her and how much I love her.”
Following the completion of the day’s legal proceedings, Adele, who was present for her mother’s testimony, was wheeled out of court and brought back to Beit Levenstein Hospital in the city of Ra’anana.
