Celebrities, diplomats, religious leaders, politicians and business giants gathered at New York’s Waldof Astoria hotel for the recent Appeal of Conscience Foundation awards ceremony.
The Foundation and its President and Founder Rabbi Arthur Schneier honored Stephen A. Schwarzman of the Blackstone Group and John Elkann, Chairman of the Fiat Group, with the Appeal of Conscience Award. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India was presented the Foundation’s World Statesman Award.
Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger addressed the international gathering and Israel’s President Shimon Peres delivered words of greeting, explaining that Israel is by no means isolated as many think, due to growing relationships with highly populous nations like India and China.
The Foundation, that was founded in 1965 has worked on behalf of religious freedom, human rights and tolerance throughout the world. The stellar show of support and the vast ethnic tapestry of guests present was a stunning testimony to the impact and influence of the Foundation’s work.
