In an emotional Facebook post addressed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a mother whose son was killed in Gaza fighting, on Sunday implored the PM to ensure that her son “didn’t die in vain.”
St.-Sgt. Oren Simcha Noach, 22, a Golani Mountain Brigade combat soldier from the Lower Galilee village of Hoshaya, died along with six of his buddies when a Hamas anti-tank rocket slammed into their vehicle on July 20.
The IDF last week declared one of the soldiers, St.-Sgt. Oron Shaul, whose remains Hamas claims to hold, as “a soldier killed in action whose burial site is unknown.”![]()
Dear Prime Minister,My son Oren was killed in the attack on the APC.We are currently sitting shiva (the traditional Jewish week of mourning). Many questions and concerns are going through our minds these days, but one thing remains unclear. It’s clear to everyone what (Hamas’) goal is in the ceasefire, so, then, why are we acceding to it?Why are we not continuing the job?Is not (the Talmudic injunction) ‘he who rises to kill you – kill him first,’ applicable here? It’s important to us to know that we are not slacking off, and that the conclusion will be the destruction of the terror infrastructure they possess. That our soldiers’ deaths have not been in vain.Continue taking bold decisions. The eternal people does not fear a long road.
As of Sunday evening, 43 soldiers and officers have fallen in fighting in Gaza in Operation Protective Edge, aimed at stopping Hamas rocket fire into Israel and destroying dozens of tunnels discovered running deep into Israeli territory adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
Out of 504 Hebrew-speaking adult respondents, 89.5 percent agreed with the statement against a ceasefire, that said “Hamas continues firing missiles on Israel, not all the tunnels have been found, and Hamas has not surrendered.”
Only 9.7 percent, according to the survey supported a ceasefire, and agreed that “Israel had enough achievements, soldiers have died, and it is time to stop.”
3.8% said they did not know which was the better option, according to the report.
