On the 23rd day of the IDF’s Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, while the government is seeking a viable cease-fire, the average Israeli is saying just the opposite: give ’em hell.
“The public is decisively opposed to a cease-fire,” Sari Steinberg of the Panels polling firm told Israel’s Channel 2 News.
“There’s been a shift since the beginning of the operation,” according to Steinberg.
“Just prior to the operation, 65 percent opposed a cease-fire, and now it’s at 78 percent – that’s a major jump.”
Additionally, Steinberg stressed that only 14 percent supported a cease-fire, with eight percent replying “not sure.”
As far as results go, 53 percent thought Israel was attaining it’s goals of stopping rocket fire and destroying terror tunnels, and 10 percent thought that Hamas was winning.
Twenty-five percent thought that neither side was coming out ahead.
