Legal Advocacy Group Releases Video Warning of Islamist Danger to Free Speech (VIDEO)
by Shiryn Ghermezian
The legal advocacy group Lawfare Project has released a 4-minute video that cites examples of the Islamist threat to free speech.
The clip, titled “Your Free Speech at Risk,” lists instances when criticism and discussion of radical Islam was censored, suppressed or prohibited. The video explicitly states, “Virtually every religion is open to conversation, except Islam.”
“Talk about Islam, particularly militant Islam, and it’s no longer a conversation,” says the narrator. “It’s met instead with censorship, intimidation, lawsuits and even violence.”
Among the incidents highlighted in the clip is the crusade by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to suppress free speech in the United States. In spite of the First Amendment, conversations in the U.S. about Islam “have been stifled too,” the narrator states. According to The Lawfare Project, journalists were sued in an attempt to be intimidated into silence after they wrote about the Islamic Society of Boston – a mosque affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, attended by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects and founded by an al-Qaeda operative.
The Lawfare Project brought attention to efforts by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) to impose blasphemy laws on the West. It was additionally noted that references to Islam and Jihad have been removed from FBI training manuals.
The video concludes with a warning that global Islamist supremacists are attempting to create “a society where freedom of speech is exchanged for fear of it…Either we have a conversation about this now, or we may never have it at all.”
