Thousands of soldiers tasked with securing Jewish institutions in France endure frequent abuse from passersby, the French Le-Progres site reported.
On Friday afternoon, three unknown assailants approached two soldiers who were stationed outside the Nahalat Moshe Jewish school in Paris. The trio, who reportedly pointed weapons at the guards, shouted antisemitic slogans and swore at them. Before fleeing, the three performed a “quenelle” gesture, an inverted Nazi salute popularized by the notorious antisemitic provocateur and comedian Dieudonné M’bala M’bala.
Police succeeded in apprehending the three, and confiscated what turned out to be fake weapons. Two are in custody while the third, a 32-year-old, is expected to go on trial.
This is the third case of threats against soldiers stationed at the entrance to the school within a week.
In another case, authorities arrested a man after he threatened a soldier and made a stabbing gesture. In another incident, an individual flashed a laser into the eyes of one of the soldiers stationed to protect the school.
