During the recent war with Gaza, known as Operation Protective Edge, many “influentials” in Hollywood steered clear of commenting on the Israeli-Hamas conflict. But not Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of entertainment studio Relativity Media, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor and a courageous advocate for Israel. In an open letter published in The Hollywood Reporter, he challenged Israel’s celebrity detractors, “Israel is a wonderful place to be an artist – a place where imagination flourishes. … Israel is a place of inventors and innovators … So when we see some in Hollywood – truly gifted artists and good people – aligning themselves with views that would be supported by Hamas … we have to wonder what they’re thinking. Are they thinking?”
