Politico – Last week, Harry Reid was holding firm against the White House’s trade plan. So President Barack Obama called up Reid’s No. 2 instead.
In a lengthy phone call, Obama pressed his close friend, Dick Durbin, to help advance his fast-track bill that would pave the way for the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the largest trade accord in history. The talk touched on Illinois politics and turned to the various positions on trade the two men, who served alongside one another in the Senate for four years, have taken over the course of their political careers.
