Actor Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem shortly after arriving in Israel on Monday, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported.
The couple are visiting the country for a ceremony on Thursday where Douglas, 70, will be presented with the $1 million Genesis Prize for his efforts to promote Jewish heritage and his contributions to Jewish culture.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present Douglas with the award, and the ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jay Leno, who is reprising his role from last year’s event which honored former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Douglas said in April that his son Dylan’s new-found interest in Judaism brought religion back into his life following the boy’s experience with antisemitism and desire to have a bar mitzvah. Dylan was the victim of an antisemitic attack while vacationing with his family in Europe last summer. He celebrated his bar mitzvah in Israel in June 2014.
