Next week, Singapore will play host to the largest aerospace and defense event in Asia.  In 2010 alone, deals closed at the show totaled $10 billion.

This year, Israeli companies will be showcasing a wide range of defense systems and equipment at the event.  Advanced communication systems designed to integrate different layers of defense equipment, along with unmanned aerial vehicles and precision strike systems will be part of the Israeli exhibits as top defense companies such as Elbit and IAI put their technologies on display.

In advance of the show, scheduled to begin February 14th, Israel Aerospace Industries inked a $150 million contract this week with an unspecified Asian nation, to supply it with advance fire-control radar for military aircraft.  The system is designed to give pilots an advantage in selecting and engaging targets in air to air combat as well as over land and sea.

Asia is now the top market for IAI’s products, including a $1.1 billion deal signed last year that will reportedly supply missile defense systems, drone aircraft and intelligence technologies to an unnamed Asian country.

Other notable items on display at the event will include Boeing’s new Dreamliner aircraft, Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II, the Airbus 380 and numerous unmanned systems.
