Mega-diva Beyoncé is planning to perform in Israel sometime in the near future, Israeli news site Walla! reported on Wednesday.
According to the Walla! celebrity section, bigwigs in the Israeli music industry and Beyoncé’s managers have sat down to serious discussions over bringing the pop sensation and former Destiny’s Child star to Israel. This comes after many false alarms in the past over potential shows in the Holy Land.
“The only question,” sources in the industry told Walla!, “is who is going to get the goose that lays the golden egg and bring her here, because there is no small number of competitors.”
Among these is well-known Israeli promoter Shuki Weiss, who handled the Israeli stints of stars like Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Barbara Streisand and Alicia Keys. Another is Gad Oron, who brought Robbie Williams, Justin Bieber and Leonard Cohen to the country.
Less optimistic sources told Walla! that although negotiations with Beyoncé are indeed underway, Israeli promoters have yet to see her management’s conditions for playing shows in Israel, and talks can always break down at the last minute. In addition, competition among Israeli promoters for the privilege of hosting Beyoncé is so fierce that the price of a potential concert is hovering at around $15 million, and could end up being even higher.
