The official Facebook page of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin will begin vetting posts after a number of threatening comments were made on the page. PHOTO: Wikipedia.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin is now vetting his official Facebook page for incitement, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Monday.
The decision to block visitors’ posts and forward incendiary material to the president’s security detail follows months of repeated obscene and threatening messages, mainly from Palestinians.
Still, the public will continue to be free to comment on Rivlin’s posts.
Beit Hanassi — the official residence and office of the president — responded to a Channel 2 query on the matter by saying, “Uploading posts to the official Facebook page of the president of Israel [should] be available to everybody. [But] in view of various posts calling for jihad and other forms of Palestinian incitement, the posts will be examined before being uploaded to the public wall.”
