In the immediate aftermath of the bloody terror attacks in Paris on Friday night, which left at least 132 dead and another 350 wounded, security at the Israeli Embassy and Jewish institutions in the French capital was heightened, Israeli news site 0404 reported.
Since the coordinated set of attacks at six different sites almost simultaneously, the Jews of France have been increasingly anxious about additional attacks, and contemplating packing their bags for other shores, mainly Israel, according to 0404.
One member of the French-Jewish community expressed his feelings on the matter. “The only place in the world in which a Jew can live and die proudly is Israel,” he told 0404.
Another French Jew said something similar. “The time has come to think seriously about immigrating to Israel,” he said.
The alert and enhanced security measures surrounding the Jewish community in Paris will continue for the next several days, and will be coordinated with the French authorities, in accordance with joint assessments, reported 0404.
Immigration from France to Israel has been on the rise in recent years, especially since the terror attacks in January this year targeting journalists at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and at a HyperCacher kosher supermarket in Paris.
