Actor Adam Sandler unveiled a new version of his famous “Chanukah Song” on Saturday, adding a slew of Jewish celebrities to the ditty’s updated lyrics.
The comedian — who released the original song about being Jewish during Christmas in 1996 — performed the latest version of the comedic track during the New York Comedy Festival at Carnegie Hall.
Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee, actor Jake Gyllenhaal and “the two guys who founded Google” are among the famous Jewish celebrities now in the line up. Sandler also included lyrics about Star Wars‘ Princess Leia, who “cuts the halva with Elsa from Frozen,” and David Beckham being “the king of soccer studs and also a quarter chosen.”
Sandler quipped that while non-Jews have Santa Claus on Christmas, Jews have their own “jolly fat guys: ice cream’s Ben & Jerry,” Jewish childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, who founded the company. Other Jewish celebrities to earn a mention in the new song are Scarlett Johansson, Adam Levine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Hulk Hogan and Shia LaBeouf.
“Ron Jeremy is fully Jewish and so is his foot-long buddy,” Sandler sang. “Shia LaBeouf is half a Jew but 100 percent nutty.”
The Hotel Transylvania 2 actor also mentioned disgraced Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, saying, “F***, a Jew,” but then added, “But guess who’s Jewish and can fix him? Loveline’s Dr. Drew.”
Sandler first performed the song on Saturday Night Live, and included it on a comedy record he released in 1996. He updated the lyrics to include new names in 1999 and 2002.
