Pro-Israel Protesters Disrupt Canadian Campus Event on ‘Palestinian Popular Resistance’

Pro-Israel protesters interrupted a panel discussion on the plight of Palestinians at the University of Toronto on Tuesday, The Canadian Jewish News reported.
Some dozen members of the Jewish Defence League of Canada (JDL) disrupted the event, shouting at the first speaker, ““How many Jews do you want to kill?”
They also called out words like “terrorism” and “antisemitism.”
After three outbursts, the moderator announced that anyone interrupting the talk would be asked to leave the room. None of the JDL protesters complied, however, and organizers eventually called a break, before vacating the auditorium of the university’s Ignatieff Theatre building.
Most of the protesters, a few of whom were wearing clothing with the JDL logo, went home, but only after lingering outside the venue for some time. The lecturers and a majority of the audience relocated to another campus building to continue where they had left off, The Canadian Jewish News reported.
JDL Canada director Meir Weinstein, who was among the protesters, called the disruption a success in a Facebook post on Tuesday. She called the event an “antisemitic pro-terrorism meeting.”
The talk, titled “Palestinian Popular Resistance: Building the Student Movement,” was organized to inform attendees about “what is currently taking place on the ground in Palestine and what we can do on our campuses to support and continue building the Palestinian popular resistance movement,” according to the event’s Facebook page. The discussion was endorsed by Students Against Israeli Apartheid.
