A Hamas envoy rejected ongoing rumors of a crisis between his organization and Iran, Tehran’s semi-official news agency Fars reported on Thursday.
Osama Hamdan, Hamas’ representative in Lebanon, gave an interview to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s website, in which he called ties with the Islamic Republic “one of the most important relationships in determining Palestine’s future.” Hamdan also thanked Iran for providing Hamas with “political, financial and direct” support, including arms and equipment.
Asserting that Iran has continued to cooperate with Hamas “in the framework of Palestinian resistance,” Hamdan revealed that Tehran was arming the West Bank, but declined to provide details.
