Tattoo Enthusiasts From Israel, Around the World, Get ‘Inked’ at Body Art Convention in Tel Aviv

Some 140 tattoo artists from the Jewish state and around the world showcased their skills at the 2016 Israel Tattoo Convention over the weekend, the New York Daily News reported.
Many artists offered discounted tattoos and piercings at the two-day, annual event, which began on Friday at the Tel Aviv Convention Center. Pictures posted on social media show the crowd of tattoo enthusiasts, who also enjoyed performances by alternative bands, getting fresh ink on their bodies.
Around 2,000 visitors from Israel and other countries, including Australia, Poland, Russia and the Netherlands, attended the first day of the event. Among the attendees was German tattoo model Magneto, whose entire face, including his eyeballs, is covered. Magneto, who hails from Berlin, opted for yet another tattoo — on his torso — at the convention.
“What I want to happen with this event, is first of all for people to have fun, get ink, show their ink, and to feel very comfortable with how they look and no one will judge them,” said convention producer Shay Daudi, who works as a piercing artist. He added that getting tattoos, along with other forms of body modification, has grown as a trend in Israel over the past decade.
The first tattoo convention was held in Israel in December 2014.
