JNS.org — A joint operation by Israel’s police, military and Shin Bet security agency uncovered a network of Palestinian smugglers who were funneling goods to the Hamas terror group by hiding items inside of common household appliances.
According to the Shin Bet, hundreds of cameras, communication cables and model airplanes were hidden in washing machines, televisions and refrigerators and brought from Judea and Samaria to the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom crossing.
“The smuggling method that was discovered by the security forces underscores the efforts undertaken by Hamas, via its collaborators, in order to build up its strength and cynically exploit the commercial permits given by Israel for the benefit of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip,” the Shin Bet said in a statement.
Authorities apprehended two suspected members of the network who were working as merchants in Gaza and the West Bank.
