JNS.org – The Israeli Defense Ministry has suspended the issuing of single-day permits for Palestinians to enter Israel, following a stabbing attack on Tel Aviv’s beachfront promenade on Sunday.
Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories stated suspension would remain in place until the completion of a full investigation into the terror attack, which was carried out by an an 18-year-old Palestinian who had entered Israel on a single-day permit facilitated by a group known as “Natural Peace Tours,” whose stated mission is to develop positive relations between Israelis and Palestinians.
The terrorist lightly wounded four people, including a man in his 70s, and two men and a woman in their 50s, with work tools in the attack on Hayarkon Street.
Israeli authorities apprehended the terrorist — whose name has not been released — but he has yet to be officially charged and remains in the custody of Israel’s Shin Bet security agency.
