A former commander of British forces in Afghanistan has highlighted on Thursday the important role of Israeli intelligence sharing with UK authorities, as the investigation continues into the suicide bombing carried out by an Islamist terrorist outside a concert arena in Manchester earlier this week, in which 22 people were killed and dozens of others were wounded.
Col. Richard Kemp — who also served in the British Cabinet Office and on the country’s Joint Intelligence Committee — told Israeli broadcaster i24 News that “there is the closest intelligence and security cooperation between Britain and Israel.”
“I have no doubt that Israeli intelligence is putting some priority on trying to help us,” Kemp said.
