Elvis Presley fans will have the opportunity to travel to Israel, for an “Elvis-themed Holy Land tour”.
The trip, which is being put together in partnership between Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc and Israel Themed Tours is open to 100 people and will take place in May of 2013.
“It’s no secret that Elvis loved Gospel music of which he won 3 Grammy awards for his spiritual recordings. This unique travel offering gives Elvis fans the opportunity to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Holy Land with world-famous Gospel artists who worked both on stage and in the studio with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” said Kevin Kern, of Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc.
The trip will include a visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, the Jordan River (for baptisms), the beaches of Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, and a cruise of the Sea of Galilee.
The people in charge of Elvis’s estate were excited about the idea of fans traveling to Israel, according to Brian Mayes, who is involved in planning the tour.
“They loved it. Elvis fans loved to do all kinds of stuff together. There’s lots of different vacation opportunities…there’s just kind of a camaraderie with their fans and being that Elvis only won 3 Grammys and they were all for gospel, this was really a no-brainer,” he said.
The Elvis Inn, located outside of Jerusalem, is one of the world’s most frequented tourist locations associated with “The King of Rock and Roll”.
