Madonna Would ‘Love to Play in Iran and Syria’

Madonna’s upcoming “MDNA” tour is set to begin in late May and as The Algemeiner reported earlier this year, the world’s number one selling female recording artist will launch the tour in Israel.
According to her manager, Madonna would also “love” to play in other Middle Eastern countries, including Syria, Lebanon and the Persian Gulf nation of Iran.
“We would love to go play Iran,” Guy Oseary told The Hollywood Reporter. “We would love to play Lebanon, Egypt and Syria at some point. … Obviously, it’s just not possible.”
Oseary was presumably referring to Syria’s internal strife where over 9,000 people have died according to the United Nations, and the tensions between Iran and the west over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
Israeli fans of Madonna launched a campaign on Facebook earlier this year, asking their country’s Prime Minister to delay any military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities until after the singer came to Israel for the start of her world tour.
Those fans have little to worry about, according to Oseary.
“It would have to be really serious, where the lives of people working with us are in danger. If we got a letter from the government saying it’s a bad time to go, we would still go. This woman doesn’t cancel anything, she just goes.”
