JNS.org – A Palestinian terrorist was arrested by the Israeli Border Police on Tuesday in possession of a knife at the entrance to Hebron’s Cave of the Patriarchs — one of the holiest sites in Judaism — in the sixth such incident since early November.
After the terrorist attempted to enter the holy site through a metal detector, police discovered that he was concealing a large knife in his clothes, although the weapon did not trigger the metal detector’s alarm.
“An initial investigation revealed that the suspect was apparently intending to carry out a stabbing attack,” Border Police said.
The terrorist, a Palestinian man in his thirties from the village of Dura, was detained by security forces for further questioning.
This latest thwarted Palestinian terror attack at the Cave of the Patriarchs came after Border Police arrested a female Palestinian terrorist in possession of two knives near the holy site last Friday.
On December 12, Border Police arrested a 17-year-old Palestinian terrorist in possession of a box cutter at the entrance to the holy site. On November 27, a 16-year-old Palestinian terrorist was arrested outside the Cave of the Patriarchs in possession of a knife. Days before that incident, a 17-year-old Palestinian terrorist attempted to enter the site with a knife hidden in his shirt. A similar incident also occurred on Nov. 9.
