Hamas is claiming to have discovered an Israeli spy camera hidden in a rock in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to the Hebrew news site Mako, the miniature camera was found by “alert residents” in the area, who contacted Hamas security forces.
Hamas personnel were then said to have neutralized the camera, which was concealed inside a slit cut in a rock, according to photographs tweeted by the Shehab news agency.

Mako noted that the area in which the camera was found was a site of “friction” between local residents and the Israeli military, due to the high number of demonstrations that take place there.
According to Mako, “Events like this are thought of as rare in Gaza: Announcements of the exposure of spy equipment usually come from the area of Lebanon.”
Israel had no official comment on the incident.
