Caitlyn Jenner talked about her admiration for Israel, Jewish values and more while accepting an honor at an awards ceremony in New York City on Thursday night.
Jenner — who previously went by the name Bruce before transitioning from a male to a female — received the Champion of Israel and Human Rights Award at the sixth annual Champions of Jewish Values International Awards Gala.
In her acceptance speech, Jenner opened up about being “touched by the Jewish community” on a few occasions during her life and how those moments “impacted” the person she is today.
The Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete described seeing her father’s photos from the Holocaust when she was younger and her personal experience years later at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.
Jenner then talked about going to many Jewish celebrations while living in California and noted, “Jewish wedding are by far the most fun weddings to go to.”
She also praised Israel’s treatment of its minorities and how Jews are family-oriented.
Jenner has visited Israel in the past and her step-daughter Kim Kardashian, along with Kardashian’s husband Kanye West, stopped in Israel in 2015 to baptize their daughter North West in Jerusalem.
