The heads of nearly two dozen northern Israel municipalities will hold and urgent meeting this coming Sunday to discuss the sensitive security situation in the area, amid heightened tensions with Iran, the Hebrew news site Mako reported.
On Sunday, Israeli media outlets — citing defense officials — reported on an Iranian plan to launch a missile strike on IDF targets in northern Israel.
The Tehran regime blamed Israel for an April 9 air strike in Syria in which seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed and vowed retaliation.
On Monday, the local council in Katzrin — located in the Golan Heights – issued a reminder to residents of Home Front Command emergency guidelines, but emphasized, “There is no change in the security situation in the area, we are in a routine.”
Residents of Safed were told, “Days of normalcy are a great time to prepare for a security deterioration.”
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Monday that the IDF was ready for “any scenario.”
“There is no place for hysteria or panic,” Lieberman noted. “Yes, there is a complex situation with many challenges and threats, and we’ll know how to deal with all the threats and handle all the challenges.”
