6 of the 12 individuals and families who just recently signed on to be part of “The Giving Pledge” are Jewish.
“The Giving Pledge” is a campaign to get America’s wealthiest people to donate most of their net worth to charity, started by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. The 12 names who have signed on, including Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank and Bill Ackman, founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, brings the total number of signatories to 81.
“Philanthropy alone cannot repair all of the social injustice in our country or the world. It can, however, inspire good will, spark innovation and provide thought leadership,” said Arthur Blank.
Blank is joined by Edgar Bronfman, Steve Bing, Henry Samueli, Michael Moritz, and Bill Ackman as the Jewish men that make up half of the new signatories.
