Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon — joined by the Jewish state’s envoy in Washington, Ron Dermer — attended on Wednesday the funeral of the late former US President George H.W. Bush, which was held at the National Cathedral in the American capital.
“Former President George H.W. Bush was a true friend of Israel,” Kahlon tweeted. “His huge contribution to the strong relationship between our countries will forever be remembered. Our heart goes out to the American people, who have lost a great leader.”

On Tuesday, Kahlon met with his US counterpart, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, shortly after the IDF announced the launch of an operation targeting tunnels dug by Hezbollah under the Israel-Lebanon border.
“Excellent meeting with @stevenmnuchin1 on economic and strategic issues,” Kahlon, the head of the centrist Kulanu Party, tweeted. “I thanked Secretary Mnuchin for supporting Israel’s right to defend our northern border from terror. We discussed further enhancement of sanctions in order to protect Israeli and U.S security interests.”
