Queens Jewish Couple Welcomes NYC Area’s First Baby of 2019
by Shiryn Ghermezian
A Jewish couple from Queens are the parents of who is believed to be the New York City area’s first baby of 2019, according to CBS2.
Eli and Adina Derdick, of Kew Gardens, had their baby boy seven seconds after the clock struck midnight on Jan. 1.
The infant, who the couple has not yet named, entered the world at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. Eli and Adina already had one son.
“You can’t plan these things,” Adina said. “One of the nurses nicknamed him ‘007’ because of the seven seconds that made him the first one, I guess…We had a whole cheering squad, we had the ball dropping in the background, and it was just a lot of adrenaline and excitement and cheering, and we made it.”
