The IDF soldier who was seriously wounded in Sunday’s West Bank terror attack “will overcome it,” his brother said. “He’s fighting.”

Alex Dvorsky, 19, was hurt in the stabbing and shooting incident near Ariel that claimed the lives of Rabbi Achiad Ettinger, 47, and IDF soldier Gal Keidan, also 19.

“Right now he’s in the hands of the doctors,” the Hebrew news site Walla quoted Dvorsky’s brother Oleg as saying on Monday, “but afterwards we’re going to need everybody’s help.”

Oleg described the moment he learned that Alex had been wounded. “I received the news from my mother,” he said. “She called me after several representatives from [Alex’s] unit arrived and told her he was wounded.”

Oleg recounted that Alex made aliyah from Moldova as a high school student without his family and later became an artillery soldier. “He enjoyed the service, the team, and the people he served with,” Oleg said.

Alex Dvorsky is currently hospitalized and Oleg remains optimistic. “I believe it’ll be ok,” he said. “The most important thing is the support for us after he’s released.”

Oleg said on Tuesday that Alex’s condition was improving and “he definitely understands the situation he’s in now.”

He noted that Alex was not sedated and was breathing on his own.

“He woke up and connected with his surroundings and the medical team, he recognized us, he even tried to talk to us, even though it’s still hard for him,” Oleg said. “We still haven’t talked to him about the attack, we want him to improve and get stronger.”
