Israel is set to take part in a major global event in Dubai next year in another sign of warming relations between the Jewish state and the Gulf Arab countries.
The event, Expo 2020 Dubai, describes itself as the largest event of its type ever held in the Arab world, with 190 countries participating. It proclaims its values are “inclusion, tolerance, and cooperation.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “Expos are global gatherings where people from around the world come together to celebrate ingenuity and apply it to shared challenges. We are excited to be a part of that common endeavor.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in his own statement, “I welcome Israel’s participation in the Expo in Dubai. It is another sign of Israel’s ascending status in the world and in the region.”
