The Algemeiner ‘Editor’s Club’ hosted Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol and Israel’s Consul for Media Affairs in New York Shahar Azani last week to discuss ‘Israel, Jews and Modern media.’
Over seventy people gathered at an exclusive Upper East Side venue for the cocktail reception in support of the Algemeiner and its parent Gershon Jacobson Foundation.
“The media’s take of Israel is no longer a dictatorship,” said Azani, who was introduced by Editor’s Club chair Barry Schiffman, “the gatekeepers have become weaker and weaker.” He Praised the Algemeiner’s use of the democratized content model as the key “to creating a community” around content and ideas
Honorary Chairman Neil Book referred to the Algemeiner as “a great agent for truth,” as he introduced William Kristol as someone who has championed that mission.
Kristol expressed optimism over the current media environment saying, “the ability to correct lies and to educate people,” has been enhanced through the growth of the “modern media structure.” He praised the Algemeiner as “a very important part” of this development especially as it relates to Jews and Israel.
