Times Union – Over two dozen Assembly Democrats gathered Sunday on the steps of New York City Hall to claim a “new housing emergency” caused the the gradual de-regulation of rent-stabilized and rent-controlled apartments.
They presented the below report, authored by the Community Service Society, found that 13,500 apartments were taken out of rent stabilization in 2009. Landlords may take apartments out of the program when they become vacant or when the annual rent exceeds $2,000.
