Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan on Wednesday said that international media bias against Israel could have a real-world impact on the Jewish state’s ability to combat Hamas after the terrorist organization massacred more than 1,400 people in Israel on Oct. 7.
“This front, the war on the truth, is what can make or break Israel’s goal of eliminating Hamas and ensuring that such atrocities never happen again, not in Israel, not anywhere,” Erdan said. “The media influences public perception. Public perception influences elected officials. And elected officials can work towards tying Israel’s hands in defense of our future … This is the strategy of our enemies. They know that they cannot defeat Israel on the battlefield, so they exploit the international community to prevent Israel from defending itself.”
Speaking at The Algemeiner‘s annual gala in New York City, Erdan said that every supporter of Israel had a role to play in this campaign.
“Israel needs you on the political frontline and the cyber frontline,” Erdan said. “We need you to work tirelessly so that the truth is seen and heard.”
