Syria has 500 scud missiles aimed at Israel, Israel’s Channel 2 is reporting. Citing Lebanese media, Channel 2 says that in the last several days Syrian forces have deployed Russian-made missiles near the border with the Jewish state.
According to the report, the military is on high alert along the border for fear that Assad will use the missiles against Israel.
The report comes a day after news that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has instructed his top military generals to attack Israel were he to be assassinated.
During a speech last month given at the graduation for Israel’s Air Force, Netanyahu addressed concerns surrounding Syria, saying that Israel is “closely monitoring the developments in Syria and will do everything in its power to protect itself from this and any other threat.”
