A Hezbollah official said Sunday that two members of the terror group were killed in Syria battling rebels. Speaking to the Lebanon-based Daily Star, a Lebanese security source said battles between government forces, on whose behalf Hezbollah has been fighting, and Syrian rebels left 12 rebels dead.
“In the past two days, 12 Syrian rebels were killed and 30 wounded while two Hezbollah members were killed and 17 of them were wounded,” the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.
The source added that fighting between Hezbollah and rebels in the Syrian town of Al- Qusayr where a majority of Lebanese Shiites reside intensified over the weekend.
Hezbollah’s spokesperson Ibrahim Musawi was unable to confirm the media reports, telling The Daily Star, “I don’t have official information about the incident … but we have said that there are Lebanese fighting in their villages [in Syria].”
