Lillian Gewirtzman was born in Poland. She spent the Holocaust years in the Soviet Union and then five years at displaced persons camps in Germany. She emigrated to the US in 1951. For thirty years she operated a pharmacy with husband David. Lillian holds an MS degree in Philosophy from Queens College. After retirement she was a Shoah Foundation interviewer for three years and presently volunteers at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Nassau County.
