Mark Pickles, 58, is a scientific technical writer with a deep interest in understanding theology in the light of modern knowledge. He was an atheist from ages 10 to 30, and since then has been an active and practicing adherent in the Church of England. He spent several years as a moderator of an online Anglican forum with about 8,000 members, clergy and laity. It was during this time that he observed a worrying resurgence of latent antisemitism in the Church of England and the wider global Anglican Communion. Now committed to studying and campaigning against antisemitism, he has met international scholars in the field and was invited to the ISGAP conference at Oxford University in July 2019.
