Libel charges against a high-profile Nazi hunter have been thrown out by a Hungarian court, after a war crimes suspect failed to turn up in court. The claims against Efraim Zuroff would only be heard if 96-year-old Sandor Kepiro was present, the judge had warned. Kepiro sued Zuroff in 2007 over allegations handed to prosecutors that he was involved in the massacre of 1,246 civilians, including Jews, in Novi Sad in 1943. Kepiro had claimed that Zuroff had presented opinions as fact, and the court threatened Zuroff with a two-year jail sentence if he could not back up his allegations.
