New York Times – On a day when the weather made most New Yorkers want to stay holed up indoors, a series of frightening and fatal car accidents reinforced the sentiment.

About 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Abdul Barry and his uncle were at work in the Bronx, trying to move a Toyota pickup truck from the back of a metal container to the front. The truck broke loose from the device they were using to move it, the police said, and fell on Mr. Barry, 49, crushing him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, near the corner of Randall Avenue and Drake Street in Hunts Point, the police said.
