Poughkeepsie Journal – Some local Jewish leaders said they have been following events in Egypt closely — and are hopeful that whatever regime emerges in Cairo will be committed to promoting peace in the Middle East and honoring Egyptian commitments to Israel.
“What the Egyptian people have done is remarkable,” said Daniel Chejfec, executive director of the Poughkeepsie-based Jewish Federation of Dutchess County. “This is about the Egyptian people and their quest for freedom.”
