New York Times – Rahm Emanuel, the mayor-elect of Chicago, stood at a train station on the South Side on Wednesday morning, offering hugs and high-fives to residents a day after his decisive victory in a city where a generation of voters has only ever known a different mayor, Richard M. Daley.
Mr. Emanuel posed for snapshots, signed autographs and offered his appreciation. “I’m very energized by the support we received last night throughout the city and the opportunity to turn the page and start anew with a fresh beginning on tackling the problems that face the city of Chicago,” Mr. Emanuel told the crush of reporters who followed him.
